What is the Urban Beer Hunt? Urban Beer Hunt is crazy, whacked out urban adventure race that adds a bit of beer to the fun. Similar to a scavenger hunt, more like an Amazing Race, with a little Beer mixed in for fun. Teams of two or more (differs per hunt, please see team size on the event page) scour a 3-5 mile area of the city on foot in a race to complete a series of crazy fun tasks. Each task has to first be solved from the provided clues and then teams must either find the location and or complete the task. Each task/location, requires a team photo to prove that all players were together at all times. Urban Beer Hunt is a great way to get out with friends and have an outrageously fun time. Each Urban Beer Hunt will have Cash, Beer and Prizes to win! How much does it cost? Please refer to the event page and click on the sign up or register button to reveal the cost per player. The price includes a great event, the awards ceremony, team costume contest and some very cool prizes totaling over $1,000.
Can anyone participate? You must be at least 21 years old. BEER is involved. Bring Your I.D. Do I have to drink BEER? Absolutely not! If a task requires you to drink, you will always have the option to drink water in place of BEER. The choice is always yours to make. Team Sizes? Your team must consist of at least two players. Most events limit your team size to 6 players. Please review the actual event webpage for size restrictions. If you have more friends then allowed that want to join you, simply break into two separate teams. You can always buddy up and go together as one big group. However, you will still need to complete each task as separate teams. It's all about having crazy fun with friends. Is this event just for those who are extremely physically fit? Players should be healthy as this is an active event. However, an Urban Beer Hunt is geared for us Beer Lovers, it's not all about speed. The fastest are not necessarily the winners. Many times the first team to cross the finish line did not complete the hunt correctly. Urban Beer Hunt requires some speed to win, but it also requires good clue solving. We suggest having phone-a-friends on stand by to take your calls if you get stumped and need help solving a clue or finding a location. The Urban Beer Hunt will go about 5 miles, which you can run, walk or take a public bus/train/subway. Taxi's, limo's, bikes, skateboards, roller blades/skates or similar are not allowed, just your own two feet and if desired and public bus, train, or subway-nothing else. What is the deadline for signing up? Most Urban Beer Hunts sell out very quickly. Please refer to the specific web page for the city you wish to participate in. How can I add another player to my team? Click Here: Add A Player You must include the city and the name of your team. Players can be added as long as an event hasn't sold out and it doesn't cause your team size to exceed the maximum allowable. See the specific event page for team size restrictions. What's this about pre-registering a cell phone? Help Registering A Cell Phone Some events, not all, will utilize text messages to send out clues to players. If an event requires registering a cell phone, you must get an instant text message confirmation at the time you register your cell phone or you will not be able to participate. All phone numbers are deleted after the event - we do not keep or sell your phone number, it is strictly used for the hunt you are doing, nothing else. We do not charge you to receive these texts. Your normal text messaging rates will apply based on your contract with your cell phone carrier. In other words, we do not charge you or your cell phone provider for these texts. You would only pay if your contract with your cell phone carrier charges you to receive texts. I didn't receive the confirmation text, what's up with that? Help Registering A Cell Phone Urban Beer Hunt uses short code messaging to ensure your carrier knows we are not spamming you. Simply contact your cell phone carriers technical support line and ask that the short code block be removed from your phone. Once removed, you will need to resend or re-register your cell phonee. Unless you receive an instant a confirmation text back, you will not be able to receive the text messages during the hunt and you will not be able to play. Where Is Race Day Check In? Most events do not have a physical meet up location. Rather the event kicks off by text message. It varies by city. Please refer to the information on your city's page. Be sure and arrive as early as possible to ensure your team is able to start on time. Most hunts do not use a specific starting point. In this case, a boundary map will be provided to give teams an idea of where the hunt takes place. Teams will want to figure out their own starting point and wait for the first text clues to start arriving. This just adds to the craziness of the hunt. How long does the Urban Beer Hunt Last? In our experience, our winners finish between 1.5 hours and 3 hours. Teams typically finish around 2 -3 hours. How does it work? Players receive a series of about 10-15 tasks and locations. Each team must stay together and complete the tasks. All locations require your team to be in a photo at/or completing the task. This ensures all players stayed together throughout the entire hunt. You will get to set your own route, tasks are provided in random order and each team figures out the best way to work it. How you proceed and in what order is up to you. More details are provided during the hunt. What should I wear? Team costumes are strongly encouraged. Best team costumes win prizes! Even matching T-shirts will do. Each team should be ready to walk or run about 5 miles. Dress for the weather as the event goes on in all weather conditions. What about the weather? The hunt goes on! The only exception will be due to extremely hazardous weather, in which case the event manger will determine whether or not to reschedule the event for another date. If the event manager cancels the event, a replacement event date will be selected and then posted on our website within 60 days. No refunds. Are refunds available? All registration sales are final and non-refundable for any reason. In the case of a postponement due to hazardous weather, your registration will automatically transfer to the rescheduled date.. What do I need to bring with me? Very little. Bring your ID! You must be 21 to participate in the Urban Beer Hunt. All players must bring cash to complete specific tasks. See the specific event page for your city for the exact amount. Each team must have an internet connected device or have phone-a-friends standing by to google answers for them, bring one digital camera per team to document your success at each stop ( cell phone cameras work just fine.
